What is the ELDT?

The ELDT is short for Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT). It is a program to help new drivers become more confident and competent behind the wheel. This course is aimed at teenagers who are just beginning to learn how to drive, as well as adults who need to brush up on their driving skills. The course covers the basics of driving safety and other important topics such as proper vehicle maintenance, traffic laws, and driving techniques.

The ELDT course consists of three parts: an online theory module, a classroom section, and an in-car practical assessment. The online module will cover topics such as rules of the road, safe driving habits, and defensive driving techniques. The classroom section will focus on the practical application of these topics, while the in-car practical assessment will provide a hands-on experience with experienced driving instructors.

How long is the course?

The ELDT is a comprehensive program designed to teach you the essential skills and knowledge needed to be safe and successful on the road. The course consists of two parts: classroom training and behind-the-wheel practice.

The Classroom training

The classroom portion of the course typically takes approximately 30 hours to complete, depending on the student’s prior knowledge and experience. During this part of the course, you will learn about topics such as safe driving techniques, traffic laws, vehicle maintenance, and driving etiquette.

The Practice

The behind-the-wheel practice portion of the course requires students to practice their newly learned skills in a safe, controlled environment. This typically requires another 10 to 15 hours, spread out over several days or weeks. During this time, students will practice the basics of driving, such as starting, stopping, turning, and parking.

Overall, the ELDT requires 40 to 45 hours of total instruction time. This includes both classroom learning and behind-the-wheel practice. It is important to note that completion of this course does not guarantee a license, but rather provides the student with the basic knowledge needed to pass the necessary tests and become a licensed driver.
